Johnathan Richards was born in Pasadena, TX in 1989 and was raised in and around the Houston area. After attending High School in Mont Belvieu, TX he attended the University of Houston, starting as a Biology major wanting to be an optometrist but then changed his major to History. He graduated from school after completing his undergraduate thesis on the Nazi occupation of Norway this December 2012.
Johnathan has always been proud of his Norwegian roots. He possesses an intense interest in the culture, history and language of Norway and learns as much as he can. Johnathan was a contestant on the show Alt for Norway, a Norwegian TV show that brings Americans with Norwegian roots to Norway for the first time to compete to meet their relatives. Johnathan remained on all 10 episodes of season 3, making it to the final two. He loves Norway so much and hopes to return soon, possibly for graduate school, in which he wants to gain his PhD so that he can be a professor.
Breast cancer has affected Johnathan several times in his life. At the age of 8 his mother was diagnosed with pre-cancer of the breast. Since then his mother has fought various kinds of cancer, surviving each time. Johnathan is proud to participate in such an amazing event and for such an incredible cause."
