I was nominated by a co- worker in a 50 Word or less essay contest sponsored by Chevrolet and Pepsi. The contest was who inspired you and why. Because of all of my fundraising specifically for Breast Cancer I was nominated. My co-worker wrote a very sweet heartfelt essay. There were 800 Torchbearers selected to have the honor. Over 230,000 email entries were submitted. I felt like I had just won the lottery. It had to be the most memorable day of my life. I was notified In Aug just weeks before 911. I've never felt so patriotic. The streets were lined with American flags and people cheering. It's a day I will never forget and the pride I felt of being an american with the freedoms we have meant so much I was so overwhelmed and so very humbled by the kindness of others.
I have shared my torch and testimony with churches schools nursing homes and several fundraising events. Light The Fire Within is engraved on the torch and never have I felt such a Flame within.
I hope that by my carrying the torch will be a good opportunity for the fundraiser for Michelle's place.
Thank you again for all you do.
I have always wanted to make a difference. I think everyone has a gift. Some of us are lucky to meet people in our lifetime who give us that opportunity.
