She lives a lifestyle of helping others by pawing it forward while raising awareness & funds for human/animal causes. She's raised over $52,600 in the last
year through her initiative, Surfin' for Paws-abilities.
She's been featured in hundreds of media sources all over the world showcasing and raising awareness of her causes, and her surfing, such as the Associated Press, USA Today, CNN, NBC, ABC, CBS, MSNBC, Fox News, Animal Planet, and many more. She's also been featured on tens of thousands of internet websites, and is also popular on social networking/media sites like Twitter and Facebook, where she has over 15,500 fans. This link http://www.surfdogricochet.com/Media.htm has a comprehensive list of the media she's been featured in.
Ricochet was an extra in the movie Marmaduke, and has appeared in several documentaries. She, along with three of her surf buddies were photographed by Dale Porter riding four dogs on a board, and the picture was featured in Times Square and the Vegas strip! She'll be featured in five books that are coming out in 2011.
She is best known for her inspirational video that went viral on YouTube "From Service dog to SURFice dog", which has almost 3 million views, and touched the hearts of people all over the world, bringing them to tears. Kleenex alert!

Since the video has gotten so much exposure, she immediately turned it into a platform to help others on a larger scale by re-directing the attention to additional human and animal causes including disabilities, special needs kids, adaptive surfing organizations, arthritis, breast cancer, canine cancer, rescues/shelters, So Cal H2O Rescue Team, Pay It Forward Day, and more. She strives to inspire people to focus on what they CAN do, which allows for a celebration of amazing outcomes. She also encourages people to allow themselves and others to be who they truly are... without judgment or intention to change. She promotes kindness, charity, philanthropy, and social responsibility, such as her video about anti-bullying "You're amazing just the way you are!"
Ricochet was born into the Puppy Prodigies Neo Natal & Early Learning Program, a 501(c)3 non profit organization that trains puppies to become service dogs for people with disabilities. As she grew, so did her interest in chasing critters, which could be dangerous if she was attached to a wheelchair. So, she had to be released from that position. But since she proved that she could surf pretty well by winning 3rd place at her first surf dog competition, the Purina Incredible Dog Challenge, her role was changed to SURFice dog! She's still able to help people with disabilities... just in a non traditional way!
She's been awarded several top fundraiser awards, several top dog awards, including recognition as a Pet Hero by the USA Today, and presented with the prestigious 2010 AKC Award for Canine Excellence.
She surfs for fun, and usually wins in the top three when she enters surf dog contests. But, she's most passionate about the adaptive surfing community of disabled surfers and special needs kids. She often surfs tandem with them, helping to counterbalance the board. When she does this, she experiences the true Aloha spirit, and she's totally stoked! For her, it's what surfing is all about!
Ricochet is a specially trained dog, with the temperament, and advanced training of a service dog. She's also a canine good citizen, a certified goal directed therapy dog, and a registered therapy dog. Her guardian/handler, Judy Fridono is a certified professional dog trainer, and they work closely with her causes to customize protocols for her SURFice dog work.
Ricochet has several corporate donors, and a number of sponsors. She is a member of the So Cal Surf Dogs, and Golden SurFURS. She also enjoys dock jumping, ball chasing, digging for gophers, chasing critters, lurecoursing, and BIRDS!
